Diet is very important in the treatment of Chronic Prostatitis because of Gut -- Prostate connection (1).  Food allergies also play a role.  It is also postulated that Yeast especially Candida may play a role.  Diet recommendations for Chronic Prostatitis are:

1.  Increase uptake of nuts, seeds, green leafy vegetables and fruits preferably organic, cold water fish ( because of omega 3 fatty acids with anti inflammatory effects ).  Especially important to increase uptake of broccoli, cauliflower, kale, tomato, onions, parsley, etc.

2.  Avoid foods you are allergic to.

3.  Avoid smoking, alcohol and caffeine.

4.  Avoid carbohydrates preferably all types like cookies, juices, potatoes, rice, wheat etc. because of possible Prostatitis -- Yeast connection.

Of course Hormonal Imbalance especially elevated Estrogen levels may play a role in Chronic Prostatitis.  It is very important to check not only Estrogen level, but Estrogen byproducts to see if you are at increased risk for Prostate Cancer and correct the problem.  To find out you need o contact Functional Medicine Doctor to find the root cause of your problem and eliminate it.

Good luck!
