How Healthy Is Your Thyroid

Thyroid Examination

You cannot function efficiently if your thyroid is not producing enough thyroid hormone because it is this hormone that’s responsible for maintaining the main functions of your body.  If it is not n the optimal range — you may be in trouble.  It’s very important for you to make sure that your thyroid function is checked on a regular basis. And low thyroid function is not unlikely to get.

If you want to have enough energy you need to keep an eye on your thyroid. Very often its under-function is overlooked because of what’s called normal values. Normals are calculated using diverse age groups, but the thyroid of an 18-year-old boy is much different than that of an 80-year-old woman. But, with current testing, the normal range for both is the same.

If an when you go to the doctor to get your thyroid checked, make sure you question their finding that everything is ok. As per anti-aging standards, TSH, which is one of the hormones reflecting thyroid function should be below two, while officially normal is up to five, depending on the lab.
