Too Much of a Good Thing

Almost everyone is calling fish oil the miracle supplement. It’s benefits are many, and doctors — from holistic to conventional — don’t seem to disagree that taking it seems to be a good idea. But, while a little may be good, too much can do a lot of damage, and it’s important that you not only always consult with your doctor, but also know that there can be too much of a good thing.

Fish oil is great. It’s benefits include lowering blood pressure, help in preventing heart attacks and anti-inflammatory abilities. But too much of it can lead to low blood pressure, allergic reactions and thin blood.

Moderation is the key!

In general, you should not be taking more than one tablespoon per day of fish oil. Make sure that you also balance it out with Omega 6 oils. You can get it from evening primrose oil, sunflower seed oil, corn oil and most vegetable oils. The best solution is to check your Omega 3 and Omega 6 oils in your body instead of guessing.
