		<description><![CDATA[Are the myths of eating too much sugar and greasy food really true or just another way to fuel the anti-acne industry?]]></description>
			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><a href="http://www.doctorkalitenko.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2011/03/iStock_000003903130Small.jpg"><img class="size-thumbnail wp-image-2141 alignleft" style="margin-left: 5px; margin-right: 5px;" title="Chocolate and Milk" src="http://www.doctorkalitenko.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2011/03/iStock_000003903130Small-150x150.jpg" alt="" width="150" height="150" /></a>Are  you suffering from acne?  You certainly are not alone.  Millions of  people suffer from acne and those people have spent billions of dollars  fueling the anti-acne industry seeking a cure for their problematic  skin.  Unfortunately, acne products, especially prescription antibiotics  and creams often come with awful side effects (Accutane has been found  to cause birth defects).  Even more so disenchanting is that the  treatments don’t always work and if they do, it’s temporary.  Those  afflicted with acne vary in extremes from those that have just a pesky  zit to having debilitating acne.  Unfortunately with a condition that  afflicts so many and is so prevalent,  a definitive causality of acne  has not yet been established in medical literature.(1)  What we do know  is that there are many treatments available for acne, but there is no  cure because we don’t know fully what actually causes acne.<span id="more-2116"></span></p>
<p>Here is what we do know:  We have sebaceous glands in our skin that secrete the oily, waxy substance called sebum that is made of fat, wax, and the debris of dead fat-producing cells. Somehow  the sebum changes its properties, becomes more thick, clogs pores,  resulting in infection with pimples and eventual scarring.  As soon as  pores are clogged, it’s like having stagnant pockets of water all over  your face and body.  If there are too many dead skin cells, the pores  get clogged and there’s no way out.</p>
<p>Is it true?  Is it as simple as that?<br />
Not really.</p>
<p>1.  Carbohydrates from processed food were linked to Acne for a long time (2).    The reason for this correlation is that carbohydrates increase the  insulin level in the body.  The reason insulin level increases in our  bodies due to carbs is that our digestive systems are not designed to  handle such high levels of readily absorbed sugars.(3)   Our sugar levels go up too quickly and our bodies natural response is  to increase insulin production.  Insulin level increases androgen  secretion, as well as keratinization of epithelial cells resulting in  clogged pores and then infection a.k.a whiteheads.</p>
<p>2.   It is well known that increased levels of androgens can change sebum.   From where? It is unlikely that so many people decided to increase  their androgen levels.  So must be some other reason. Could it be from  certain foods like milk?  Recent studies suggest acne can be caused by  milk ingestion.   Milk is designed to grow babies and it is naturally  full of what we call anabolic hormones.  These are mostly androgens  (like testosterone) and growth hormones including insulin like growth  factor 1 (IGF-1). There is no such thing as hormone-free milk(4).   That means that, when we drink milk we are ingesting these hormones  and thus elevating insulin and androgen levels thus causing acne.  Seems  reasonable, but unlikely that acne is exacerbated by just milk itself.   The reason is that hormones are not produced in your gut.  When the  hormones in milk are swallowed and digested, they are changed by the  digestive process and not absorbed.  The body sends these hormones to  the liver to be deactivated as waste.  So milk alone is unlikely to be  the reason of androgen excess.  But if androgen elimination is impaired,  then it may be a problem.  Sex hormones are eliminated through the gut.   So if gut is not working &#8212; then you are in trouble.</p>
<p>But getting rid of milk is not easy:<br />
a).  Because it is addictive: the main milk protein casein is transformed  while digested into casomorphin that works similar to street drugs(5)<br />
b).  It is recommended by the government!(6).   We trust our government, right?  Look at it from an evolutionary  perspective, human beings are designed to drink milk until age 1, in  order to rapidly gain weight.  In that regard, why would the government  want adults drinking milk if obesity is so prevalent.<br />
3.   FAT!: trans fats (synthetic) and saturated fats (natural).  Trans fats  are solid and more likely to clog pores.  Saturated fats are liquid and  are unlikely to clog pores.  Trans fats are: margarine, shortening etc.   They good for food companies because they are spreadable, not  vanishing etc.  Saturated fats are found in fish oils and omega-3s.  It  is very interesting to note that omega 3s were found to exist in beef  fat from grass fed cows; however, not in their corn fed counterparts.</p>
<p>To  summarize, consumption of milk, sugar and carbohydrates in all forms do  not necessarily cause acne or exacerbate acne problems.  To really  bring this idea home, we can examine a very interesting study conducted  on the indigenous peoples of the island of Kitava located in the Pacific  Islands who subsist on a diet of root vegetables, coconut, fruit,  vegetables and fish and have undetectable levels of cardiovascular  disease (CVD), stroke, obesity and do not have acne!  What they do not  eat is processed grains, particularly wheat, refined sugar, industrially  processed vegetable oils and other modern foods. I believe these are  unhealthy, and this is visible in the trail of destruction they have  left around the globe. Its traces can be found in the Pacific islands,  where close genetic relatives of the Kitavans have become morbidly obese  and unhealthy on a processed-food diet.(7)</p>
<p>Solution:<br />
1.  Avoid carbohydrates unless they are in fresh unprocessed fruits.<br />
2.  Avoid dairy products.<br />
3.  Avoid trans fats.<br />
4.  Increase your intake of fish oil<br />
5.  Fix your gut.</p>

<p>The truth is that there are several things that can be causing your night sweats, and it’s important, for each reason, to see a holistic doctor and get it checked out, so that it isn’t just cast aside as a menopausal symptom.<span id="more-2020"></span></p>
<ul>
<li><strong>Excessive clothing:</strong> The first, and most common cause, is excess clothing. It is important to sleep in a cool room and wear breathable fabrics. Being over dressed during sleep can not only cause night-sweats, but you can become dehydrated, and even get kidney stones because the urine gets too concentrated.</li>
<li></li>
<li><strong>Sleep apnea syndrome:</strong> sweating can also be a sign of sleep apnea, which can be deadly. The first step is to ask your partner if they have ever heard you stop breathing in your sleep, even for a second. This can be so dangerous because of arrhythmia and even possible brain damage from lack of oxygen.</li>
<li></li>
<li><strong>Infections</strong>, like tuberculosis, can show symptoms like night sweats, and living in New York City, TB is very possible, especially on trains and other closed in areas. <p>It’s very important to go see a functional medicine doctor, to find out what can be causing your night sweats. As you can see, it is very dangerous to just say it is probably menopause and leave it at that. It can be deadly.</p>

That’s often the question we ask when looking at a picture of a gaunt supermodel that we will never know, whose look we will never achieve. Or, we ask it when we hear about Hollywood and eating disorders.</p>
<p>But recently, the government is jumping in on trying to cure the obesity problem in the United States<span id="more-2010"></span>, not with methods to improve our diets, healthier and safer options, and guidelines, but instead, by looking into approving lap band procedure for millions more Americans.</p>
<p>According to this article in the New York Times (<a href="http://www.nytimes.com/2010/12/02/business/02obese.html?_r=2&amp;ref=health" target="_blank">http://www.nytimes.com/2010/12/02/business/02obese.html?_r=2&amp;ref=health</a>) the potentially deadly surgery is now an option for people with a BMI (body mass index) of 40% or 35% is there is another medical condition, such as diabetes. The new considerations are 35% BMI or 30% with another condition. As the article points out, this may not mean a lot when you hear percentages, but this would mean that a woman who was 5’6” would now only have to weigh 186 lbs in order to qualify.</p>
<p>This is ridiculous: First, companies make money on selling us bad, processed, and dangerous foods, then they make money on making the devices, then on the surgery, then on medication for life to monitor you.</p>
<p>There is a simpler, and more natural solution to getting to your goal weight and staying there. You need to eat the right foods, for obvious reasons. We encourage a cave-man diet of lean meats, green vegetables, and fruit. No carbs, no wheat, no dairy. The meats should be organic. Your water should be distilled.</p>
<p>Reduce your stress. Stress makes us eat more, makes us make quick and unhealthy choices. Make sure that you get a good night’s sleep. Sleep helps to regenerate our neurotransmitters, and if you don’t do that, you can’t function.</p>
<p>Another thing you need is motivation. You could possibly need dopamine support, in the form of neurotransmitter balancing. dopamine support can help you take the lead, accept the challenge to change your weight, and follow through.</p>
<p>One last option, which I have just tried myself, is fasting for three days to reset your body and your mind. Fasting for three days will help you to better understand what hunger really is, what you really need to survive, and it will also help you to appreciate the tastes, smells and sight of food in a way you haven’t.</p>

<p>This discovery that cancer is man-made leads us to wonder why and how cancer is so rampant in today’s society. The answers are easy: it’s our environment, and it’s what we eat and how we treat our bodies. Plain and simple.</p>
<p>So, what can we do now?</p>
<p>First: BRING OUR WEIGHT DOWN: We are an obese society, which is not news. But if we ate healthy, natural, and organic foods, we would slim down, lowering our risk, but we would also be eating foods with less toxicity, organic foods, that wouldn’t be poisoning our bodies as much.</p>
<p>Secondly: sleep longer, better, and reduce stress. Too much stress and not enough uninterrupted sleep causes our bodies to not be able to fight infection as well.</p>
<p>In addition: make sure that you get enough vitamin D, but make sure as well, that you only go out in the sun at the right times. Limit your exposure, wear proper clothing and hats, but make sure that your body gets the vitamin d that it needs.</p>
<p>Avoid radiation and radio frequency exposure: turn off all electronics at night and unplug them. A simple thing you can do is also sleep with a sheet of aluminum foil under the bed.</p>
<p>Fix your gut: If your gut is not working properly you cannot digest correctly, can’t produce the right acids to fight off bacteria and disease, and you risk the chance of being overall unhealthy, affecting the ways that you can battle many illnesses.</p>
<p>The most important thing that we can do is to look at ourselves. Stop blaming someone else for the reason we are getting sick. Take a look at what we are eating, what we are doing, and how we are living our lives and make a change.</p>

A guaranteed quick fix, it has become more and more common in  the United States. Singer Carnie Wilson had a bigger career surrounding  her weight loss surgery, health campaign, and eventual weight gain, than  she did as the singer in the 90s pop band Wilson Phillips.</p>
<p>We  have come to depend on these stomach surgeries when we feel that we  have no other options. But the truth is, that once you have this  surgery, you are forever altering your body, forever changing the way  that your body takes in nutrients and micro elements. You will never be  normal again.<br />

It talks about a recent study that shows that most people who have the  surgery are shown to reduce the amount of diabetic medication that they  take. Sure, that makes sense because the amount of food they can now  consume is now reduced to just tablespoons, whereas before they consumed  amounts that caused them to get to the point of no return.</p>
<p>So, why shouldn’t we consider this surgery?</p>
<p>For several reasons:</p>
<p>Ask  yourself this question: Do you really think that eating just a  tablespoon of food over the recommended amount should have you feeling  ill, possibly throwing up or worse? For some people, this is the harsh  reality of the surgery that they think will save their lives.</p>
<p>Did you know that you also have to go through psychiatric evaluation before you are even considered for the surgery?</p>
<p>Examine  the reasons why. For most of us, eating is not only done for nutrition  and fuel. Many of us eat for emotional reasons, to celebrate, or to be  sad, out of anxiety, or to relax at the end of the night. So, even  though you may make your stomach a quarter of the size it used to be,  does it take away the emotional voids that the eating used to fill?  Absolutely not. Many people who have the surgery continue to be  depressed, and overeat, making themselves sick and ultimately having the  surgery be deemed a failure.</p>
<p>This surgery changes the way that you take in and digest food. It changes the way that you ingest nutrients.</p>
<p>Maybe  lifestyle changes are enough to show you that this “last resort”  surgery is not for you. Start with changing your diet to include only  unprocessed foods. You will feel the change almost immediately, in your  energy and health, and soon see it as the pounds come off.</p>
<p>Once  again, I stress a caveman diet of lean meats, organic fruits and  vegetables, and plenty of filling leafy greens. This isn’t any sort of  magic diet or medicine. If you look at the basic ingredients and rules  of any diet, even fad diets that come and go, most are variations on  this rule: eat more lean meat, cut carbs and fat, and fill yourself up  with fruit and vegetables.</p>

What he did was basically put his whole family on welfare for a month, to show how a poor family survives on little money. He took a $200 check and used it to buy a month’s supply of groceries.</p>
<p>What do you think happened to him at the end of 30 days? What do you spend per month on food?</p>
<p>I’ll tell you what would happen to the average family ( not this particular one ), if it has to eat cheap food: the whole family would end up unhealthy, feeling bloated and tired. They also would gain weight. It’s interesting that there is a nationally known term as “fat poor.” We used to assume that people who are poor would be skinny, because they couldn’t afford to eat, but instead, the horrible truth is that they eat unhealthy, cheaper food, filled with sugar and starch that fills them up longer. A nice dinner out for a family who can’t afford a sit down restaurant is usually fast food, which is loaded in fat, but quick and cheap.<br />

The unfortunate truth is that eating healthy, and eating well is not cheap. There are always smarter choices that someone can make, no matter what budget they are on (more lean meats, filling vegetables and fruit, less carbs and dairy for adults) but the highest quality food and ingredients cannot be bargained.</p>
<p>No matter what the economic climate, what you eat plays the most important role in how your gut functions, and your gut is crucial to the way you live, love, work, behave, function and survive. And that has to be taken care of no matter what the cost is.</p>
<p>My advice? If you want to cut something from your diet to save money: stop buying bread and milk! Instead, fill your belly with grass fed beef, organic fruit and vegetables. Splurge on these items instead of cheeses. Buy an organic chicken because the couple of dollars you pay extra is worth the added benefit to your vitality and life.</p>
<p>Save money by cooking your own meals or growing your own vegetables. This way you can manage ingredients and chemicals and make sure that what you are eating is quality and more affordable. Even a city-dweller can grow tomatoes!</p>
<p>Don’t spend money on coffee or alcohol. Drink water! High-priced juices? Skip them and go for the fruit instead. It’s much healthier!</p>
<p>Go to a holistic doctor to get your gut checked out and see where you can begin to a healthier lifestyle.</p>
<p>The bottom line is this: You have a wallet and it’s filled with bills. Would you rather it be filled with singles or hundreds? We all know what the answer is. And you might be saying that you can’t afford to fill it with hundreds and that’s ok. But maybe you can start by filling it with 20s for now. Every little bit helps.</p>

Words like “poisoned,” “contaminated,” “deadly” have become a part of our vocabulary in recent years, thanks to food recalls. It tears the industry apart and no doubt, has lasting effects on people.</p>
<p>Mad cow disease, tomatoes, kids peanut butter crackers, and now eggs, we are faced with a myriad of information that we have to filter through every time. What’s truly dangerous, is it in our area, what can we do to protect ourselves, is it ever safe to buy the product again, what’s next?</p>
<p>The truth is, that even with FDA controls, we can never truly protect the quality of our foods. There is always an opening for poisons, contamination, and deadly consequences.<br />

A recent Wall Street Journal article talks more about how the FDA is ramping up protections since a voluntary egg recall that could have ripped apart the egg farming industry. <p>The natural assumption is that it is the bugs and the bacteria that is responsible for our disease. We look to place the blame on some sort of “resistant” bacteria. But did we ever look at what makes a resistant bacteria? Sometimes, the answer is: us!</p>
<p>Bacteria should be killed off in our stomachs as soon as we take it in.  It should kill everything and keep us safe, so what does it mean if it doesn’t?</p>
<p>Take for example  a grass fed cow as opposed to a grain fed cow. This can make all the difference. Cows, in nature, are not meant to eat corn. But they are fed a diet of rain to bulk them up and get them to your plate quicker. But in a grain fed cow, there is acid created in the stomach. The bacteria grown then becomes resistant to acid, naturally found in our own stomachs. So, by the time the meat gets to us, we are exposed to a resistant strain of bacteria that the acids in our stomach would have naturally killed. That is where grass fed cows come in. Here, we are much safer, as the bacteria isn’t resistant.  Because it is neutral environment in the grass fed cow.  Therefore no acid resistant bacteria.</p>

<p>Another reason we are unable to fight bacteria as we did before is the use of medication that decreases acid. Even an over-the-counter medication like Prevacid or Prilosec can decrease our acid enough to hinder the ability to fight off certain bacteria.  Of course you should take those meds if it is really necessary.</p>
<p>A third reason can be damage done to our guts. As a doctor, I stress the importance of a well-working gut to help solve almost every problem. Our gut controls so many of our functions, including the ability to fight off infection. Most of our immune system in located in the gut and if it isn’t working properly, we are bound to get sick.</p>
<p>What can we do to keep ourselves safe?</p>
<p>Firstly, besides being incredibly good for you, grass fed beef is much healthier and can help you keep safe from bacteria. Second: eat a caveman diet to keep your gut in the best shape it can be in. No carbs or dairy: just meat, fruit and vegetables to keep you lean and healthy! Lastly: eat organic. It might be a little more expensive, but it’s worth it in the quality of the products you are ingesting. You are eliminating so many of the possible causes of getting sick. And lastly: skip the over-the-counter acid reducers. Watch your diet and your acid should naturally control itself.</p>

		<description><![CDATA[Don’t Just Trust The Labels]]></description>
			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><img class="alignright size-thumbnail wp-image-1940" style="margin-left: 5px; margin-right: 5px; border: 0pt none;" title="whole wheat bread" src="/blog/wp-content/uploads/2010/11/iStock_000014475892XSmall-150x150.jpg" alt="" width="150" height="150" />The “whole grains” you may be paying for, may actually not make a difference in your health! Even though the recent study, published in the Journal of the American Medical Association, says that in combination with other healthy behavior, <a href="http://jama.ama-assn.org/cgi/content/abstract/302/4/394" target="_blank">whole grain cereal may lower your risk for heart failure</a>, it still does not sound convincing. And here is why.</p>
<p>This article, as well as other  articles about using whole grain cereals ( like <a href="http://jama.ama-assn.org/cgi/content/full/284/12/1534" target="_blank">JAMA article about whole grains and risk of stroke</a> ),  was done on the group of people, who are adherent to a healthy life style, which includes not only eating whole grain cereals, but also exercising, refraining from smoking, maintaining low body mass index, etc.. So it is not really clear from these articles, what the benefit is coming from: whole grains or something else.</p>
<p><span id="more-1939"></span>Do they plan any studies to figure it out what really works?  Not to my knowledge.</p>
<p>So, why the popular thought that whole grain, equals healthier? Well, because it does, but not in the form that we usually consume it in.</p>
<p>As soon as a grain is destroyed, it’s not actually a whole grain. Take for example in a cereal. When the grain is milled, the grain is made into small particles, allowing more of a surface for absorption, as compared to a whole grain with a smaller absorption surface. The result is that absorption is much quicker, the carbohydrates go sky high, our bodies are not prepared and as a result in our blood sugar going all the way down, making us eat more and more and more. So what s the result? Food companies are getting fat and we are getting fat too. Who benefits from this? Not us!</p>
<p>Sometimes we assume the more “grains” something has listed on a label, the better it is for us. Or maybe, as long as it isn’t white. Take bread for example: Don’t be fooled into buying darker bread since some companies use caramel coloring to make their bread appear darker and, in your mind, healthier.</p>

<p>Play it safe by eating what they call a caveman diet of lean meats, fruits and vegetables. Try to stay away from wheat carbohydrates and dairy. You just try to get out of the way. This is because when you are stressed, your mental capacity, and your ability to learn may shut down. Therefore, when you are stressed you cannot work efficiently and most important you cannot make the right decisions. Therefore if you want to be efficient you have to get rid of stress.</p>
<p>But it’s not always so easy to relieve the causes of stress in our lives. Sometimes we can’t control the stress we incur at our jobs or from our children. But stress literally kills, so what are we to do?</p>

Many of our illnesses have to do with inflammation, from arthritis to heart attack. Inflammation occurs when our bodies try to separate the illness from the rest of the body and is our body’s natural defense mechanism. But with the advent of the modern western lifestyle it may be working against us instead of protecting us.</p>
<p><span id="more-1916"></span>Here’s an example. Because of SAD  ( Standard American Diet ), we become overweight, that leads to increased inflammation in our body.  But inflammation itself can bring on heart attack by making atherosclerotic plagues in our vessels rupture.  This makes our heart vessels clogged and hence heart attack.</p>
<p>One of the major causes of inflammation are teeth and gums. Some of the reason may be poor dental work or poor hygiene. When the pouches of infection and inflammation form in the gums and poor dental hygiene is added, it can be a killer concoction. Diet becomes another factor, where too many sweets and carbohydrates help bacteria build up.</p>
<p>You can work on getting inflammation down by taking better care of your teeth. Get rid of sweets, firstly. Clean teeth naturally by eating raw vegetables.</p>
<p>Using toothpaste is not the best idea, for the simple reason that often there is a number on the box to call poison control if you swallow too much. That means there are poisons in it that yo do not really need.</p>
<p>Dental work should be done and not put off. Make sure it is quality dental work. Getting a root canal done, and having a cap put on for example, can cause bacteria to grow and inflammation to blossom. Don’t have wisdom teeth removed unless its really necessary, because there is no same reason for everyone to remove them! When those teeth are removed, it changes the way that we chew and can affect so much the digestion process in our bodies.</p>
<p>Bottom line is simple; take care of your teeth and it will pay off!</p>

Moreover, it takes a lot of time to get the toxicology profile, because without it we do not know what to look for.  Obviously, it is not the routine part of  your routine checkup.</p>
<p>But there is another method to help you find out what can be causing your illness, so that you might be able to grab the bull by the horns and get rid of the illness, instead of taming the symptoms for short periods of time.</p>
<p><span id="more-1912"></span></p>
<p>Heavy metal toxins can be causing some to many of our illnesses. They can be linked to memory loss, increased allergic reactions, high blood pressure, chronic fatigue, mood swings, and aggressive behavior, just to name a few. And even though they occur naturally in our environment, we are also overexposed to them because government regulations are lax.</p>

Second, if blood levels are negative then you can get checked using chelating agents like DMSA or DMPS and get your urine checked to discover toxins hidden in your body not discovered by a regular blood test.</p>
<p>Blood tests can find that your blood is are clear but toxins can be found elsewhere. Take lead for example. Lead can accumulate in the bones and when a woman becomes menopausal it all begins to come up.</p>
<p>The solution here is to get checked for possible high levels of heavy metals and start a program to get them out of your body.</p>
<p><strong>Tips how to detoxify yourself:</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Find a doctor, who is specializing in detoxification and get your body checked.</li>
<li>Drink enough water, preferably distilled with addition of micro elements.</li>
<li>Avoid mercury laden fish, paints, plastic bottles for water or other drinks.</li>
<li>Stick with Paleolithic diet: meat, preferably grass fed, fish ( use safe food selector to find the right one ), poultry ( organic ), fresh fruits and vegetables ( organic ).</li>

<p><span id="more-1909"></span></p>
<p>1. Raw cow’s milk contains sugar lactose, which we may not be able to digest.  Result: bloating, bad bugs get extra food, problems with digestion and absorption of essential nutrients, etc..  Raw milk is still better then regular, because it contains bacteria, that help to digest it.</p>
<p>2. Raw milk is not homogenized.  Therefore it contains cow’s protein globes, covered by lipids to ensure its passage unchanged into your blood stream.  They may not passé al the time, but still there is a possibility. Do you want cow’s proteins in your blood?</p>
<p>Bottom line: meat, poultry, fish, fresh fruits and vegetables with purified water is probably the best choice.  I would recommend to stay away from grains, milk, any processed food, coffee, alcohol, sweets, carbs except fresh fruits and vegetables, smoking and street drugs.</p>

But it does not mean that you have to suffer from kidney stones. Because the formation of new kidney stones can be prevented.</p>
<p>Think about it: kidney stones are salts most likely calcium oxalate, that our body cannot prevent form making crystals in the kidneys.  So what happened to your body? Is it at fault? Or may be you are not giving your body what it needs for proper functioning?  Or may be we are giving our body too much junk it cannot get rid of? Probably both.</p>
<p><span id="more-1905"></span></p>
<p>Obviously what we eat is the most important.  Our standard american diet ( SAD ) is a problem because of high alcohol consumption, high refined carbohydrates, high fat content, especially high animal fat amount, low fibers and vitamin D enriched products.  Prolonged use of antibiotics can change gut flora, which leads to increased absorption of oxalate, which is a component of kidney stones.  High stress level is among risk factors for kidney stones.</p>
<p>Another reason for calcium oxalate kidney stones formation may be lack of bacteria, that consumes oxalate as a food.  If you are lacking this bacteria because of antibiotic use or gut dysbiosis, oxalate in your gut is not consumed by bacteria and therefore absorbed into the blood and excreted by the kidney in the amount, much higher, then it is supposed to be.  This leads to kidney stone formation.  Solution: get your beneficial bacteria back!</p>
<p><strong>So what needs to be done to prevent kidney stones?</strong></p>
<ol>
<li>Drinking enough water is the most important thing you can do.  Especially before going to sleep, because urine becomes concentrated at night: no water! So drink enough water even before sleep, provided that it is not disrupted by urination. The easiest way to check if you are drinking enough water is to look at the color of your urine: should not look dark yellow.</li>
<li>Avoid alcohol.</li>
<li>Loose weight.</li>
<li>Decrease your stress load.</li>
<li>Eat more fibers, leafy green vegetables, lima beans, barley, bran, corn, brown rice, avocado.</li>
<li>Decrease intake of meat, spinach, black tea, rhubarb, beat leafs, cranberry, parsley, nuts.</li>
<li>Change position when sleep.  Do not sleep on one side!</li>
<li>Check your gut bacteria! Replace if you have dysbiosis!</li>
</ol>

And it is not for vanity reasons only. Because a perfect body means not only pleasure but good health. Usually we believe that only young people can have it and with aging it is bound to deteriorate.</p>
<p>But that’s not always the case anymore. With the advent of modern treatments even miracles become the reality. Take a look yourself. Here are some images of <a href="http://www.parismatch.com/People-Match/Cinema/Actu/Sharon-Stone-J-ai-50-ans-et-alors-!-118449/" target="_blank">Sharon Stone</a> at <a href="http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2009/08/06/sharon-stone-topless-on-p_n_252960.html" target="_blank">the age of 50</a>. Does she look like a mature woman? I don’t think so. She looks much younger than she actually is. And it is not only her face, but her whole body. So how does she have such a perfect body at her age?</p>

<p>Even though I have no knowledge how actually Sharon Stone did it, I will share with you some ideas on how you can have a great body after menopause:</p>
<ol>
<li>Exercise regularly: it will help you to maintain your muscle tone. Work especially on your belly area.</li>
<li>Drink enough water: it helps to maintain your skin tone.</li>
<li>Get enough sleep to look refreshed.</li>
<li>Limit your calorie intake: having too much fat will stretch your skin, resulting in skin sagging with aging.</li>
<li>No smoking: it damages your skin, lungs and blood vessels.</li>
<li>Bioidentical hormone replacement would help you to maintain breast shape, skin tone and good sleep.</li>
<li>Stress reduction is absolutely necessary to restore your hormonal balance, to look and feel good and to prolong your life.</li>
<li>Plastic surgery may be the last resort to correct your sagging skin or breast shape.</li>
</ol>
<p>Of course it is not easy.  And unfortunately there are no miracles.  But if you are persistent enough, you have a good chance to get what you want.</p>

Turns out, that may not be true. Especially for our children.</p>
<p><span id="more-1895"></span></p>
<p>Multiple studies now suggest that radio frequency electromagnetic fields can damage brain cells and worse, cause cancer.  It may range from highly aggressive glioblastoma, to relatively benign acoustic neuroma.  But having even a benign brain tumor isn’t good. But why are children at higher risk?</p>
<p>The radio frequency electromagnetic filed penetration of the child&#8217;s brain is much higher than an adult&#8217;s. And the source of these radio frequency electromagnetic fields is cell phones!</p>
<p>The danger of using cell phones while driving is well known.  It is even recognized by the government.  Driving while talking on the cell phone is prohibited in many states because that risk is obvious. If you’re holding a phone, you’re not holding the wheel. But the danger of radio frequency electromagnetic fields is less recognized. However, even government now is making efforts to look into the problem (<a href="http://domesticpolicy.oversight.house.gov/story.asp?ID=2199" target="_blank">http://domesticpolicy.oversight.house.gov/story.asp?ID=2199</a>).</p>
<p>On the other hand, cell phones became indispensable in our every day lives.  That is why it is highly unlikely that we will stop using them altogether, but do we really need them? Probably not that often!</p>
<p>Here are some simple ideas on how to minimize the damage from radio frequency electromagnetic fields:</p>
<ol>
<li>Use a landline as much as possible.</li>
<li>Use cell phones for emergencies only.</li>
<li>Turn off your cell phone when you don’t need it.</li>
<li>Keep your cell phone in your purse or bag instead of having it in your pocket or on your belt.</li>
<li>Use speakers, wired or wireless headsets.</li>
</ol>
<p>Of course, you are the one who decides how much exposure you will have and if you will actually limit cell phone us. But using the tips above can help you to minimize the damage while still using cell phones.</p>

Any old-timer will tell you that. But, our high-tech, pilled up intimate lives are now so unnatural that one has to wonder how popular mating really is.</p>
<p>A recent article in the <a href="http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/06/10/how-tech-is-changing-sex_n_585204.html" target="_blank">Huffington Post</a> noted the seven ways that technology is changing the ways that we can have sex:</p>
<ul>
<li> adult web sites, as opposed to magazines of yesterday</li>
<li>high tech adult toys that can be used virtually</li>
<li> virtual sex sites</li>
<li>online dating sites</li>
<li>high tech sex dolls</li>
<li>gps networking meet-up sites</li>
<li>cybersex</li>
</ul>
<p>And besides our new high tech methods of meeting and mating, what about when we finally do have regular sex. Men have had Viagra for quite some time now. It’s supposedly safe to use regularly. And most recently, there was a female version of Viagra put on the market, which the FDA didn’t approve,  but be sure that it’s coming!<span id="more-1890"></span></p>
<p>The way that our intimate moments now work is that you can basically have whatever you want and whenever you want it. If someone wants to make love in person, they can just take pills. It is the most unnatural thing, don’t you think?</p>
<p>Isn’t sex supposed to be natural and pleasurable for both parties, and not just on a physical level, but on an emotional level as well. Sure, a man can take a pill and it can help him get  it up, but is that really the solution to why he can’t get it up anymore?</p>
<p>Maybe there is something wrong with his hormone levels and that needs to be checked out. Combined with neurotransmitter balancing, regulating his gut, and taking care of his physical and emotional issues, this man shouldn’t need the magic pill anymore.</p>

<p>A recent article in the Associated Press noted a study that found that short people had a 50 percent higher chance of getting heart disease, than taller people.</p>
<p>It is also important to note that other issues, like smoking and weight also played important roles in these heart disease risks.</p>

<p>Well, there could be several reasons for this. Besides being hereditary, being short could also be because there is a growth hormone deficiency or malnutrition, celiac spru or parasites. And malnutrition in our society, or at least in the subjects they were looking at in the study, was not really a factor.</p>
<p>The bottom line is that if you feel like this might be something that you are faced with, or you are worried that you may be growth hormone deficient, or have an unhealthy gut, you should have yourself tested.</p>
<p><span id="more-1885"></span>There are specific tests that can check if you are growth hormone deficient or if you have problems with your gut that a regular doctor would not just naturally check for.</p>
<p>The reasons for this are that official medicine does not recognize mild forms of celiac disease, and for parasites, regular labs are usually insufficient and special labs need to handle the tests.</p>
<p>Growth hormones are a different story. Mostly associated with sports and illegal use, growth hormone is very strictly monitored by the FDA. Even though it is not a steroid it’s use it very limited and very guarded.</p>

During that physical, we were shown some of the top-of-the-line tests that he received. Only the best for the president, right? And, since the president is of the proper age, he also received a colonoscopy, but he received a virtual colonoscopy. What’s so bad about that you may ask?</p>
<p>Well, as I know it, one of the reasons we get colonoscopies to help us identify if we have cancer, and hopefully catch it early so that we can live longer and healthier lives. But, President Obama, not knowingly, during that virtual colonoscopy, was exposed to enough radiation to give him cancer! Doesn’t that defeat the purpose of getting a colonoscopy done?</p>

<p>My point here is that we used to be very cautious about the amount of radiation we were given. An X-ray was a big deal. We were told to cover up, the technician walked into another room so that they didn’t expose themselves all the time, we were more careful. But now, as technology advances, it seems we are taking too many liberties with the amount of radiation that we are exposed to.</p>
<p>Consider the amount of radiation that we get from airports that do whole body scans. How can we be exposed to that kind of  radiation that often? What about frequent fliers who may have to do that three to four times a week? What is worse is that they don’t really offer an effective solution. If you don’t want to be exposed to the scan, the amount of time it takes to personally go through everything is so much worse that many opt for the dangerous scan.</p>
<p>We are told that it is a safe amount of radiation, but radiation is poison and in my opinion there is no safe amount of poison, whether it is in a medical scan, or a scan at the airport. Look at patients who are getting MRI’s. The procedure may have to be done for the patient’s health, I understand, but sometimes, people are given two to three a day!</p>
<p>I don’t think President Obama really realized what he was exposing himself to during this routine physical but hopefully, you the reader, will reconsider unnecessary scans.</p>
<p>Perhaps the best way to ensure that we do not get too many scans that expose us to radiation is to maintain our health. Start with a healthy caveman diet, which consists of proteins from lean meats, organic fruits and vegetables and no dairy or carbs!</p>
