When you want your skin to look younger, or you have skin trouble, the first thing that comes to your mind is to put some cream on it. And sometimes it works, because a cream treats the symptom. However, a cream almost never treats the cause. Remember, that your skin is the reflection of what’s going on inside your body. So to keep your skin healthy, keep your body healthy. Use such simple and proven ways as stress reduction techniques, drinking plenty of water, implementing sleep hygiene principles. But sometimes it is not easy, sometimes even impossible. How can you get rid of stress altogether? Can you go to sleep with sundown and get up with sunrise?
But what you can do easily is to get enough supplements and nutrients your body needs because of soil fertilizing. This sounds easy doesn’t it? So what supplements are vitally important for your skin?
1. Vitamin A, which stimulates skin cells turnover. Getting enough of vitamin A will help your skin to look like a baby’s. The interesting fact is, that the vitamin A derivate drug Tazorac, which is really good for skin treatments, cost 150 — 250 dollars a piece, while natural vitamin A costs a few dollars only. Isn’t it fascinating?
2. Fish oil, which brings your cholesterol down, resulting in more nutrients in the blood for your skin. There’s a recent study from Italy, which shows, that fish oil is more effective than the statin Crestor. It took researchers more then 30 years to figure out, that cheap and safe natural fish oil is more effective than expensive and dangerous drugs.
3. Zinc, which is responsible for healing. Every day you damage your skin more or less. And this microtrama needs to heal. Without zinc healing is no good.
4. Vitamin B5. Lack of it can cause dermatitis.
5. Vitamin C: important because of its antioxidant properties and ability to maintain blood vessel structure. A lack of vitamin C is well known as scurvy.
6. Vitamin E removes free radicals, minimizing skin damage.
7. Water, which is sometimes called the “forgotten nutrient”. Giving your skin enough water makes you look and feel better immediately.
All of the supplements above are cheap. Much cheaper than laser treatment or Botox or fillers. Not only this, but they are natural, easy to use and very effective for skin care. They will make you look and feel younger at almost no cost to you. Don’t you think, that they are worth trying?

Even though drugs are necessary in some health conditions, they may deplete your body of essential nutrients, therefore putting their benefits in question. Nobody argues that antibiotics are very helpful, which I agree with. The reason why they are good is because they are used temporarily. So we usually stop taking antibiotics before they can cause significant harm to our body. For example, vancomysin is indispensable for treating drug resistant Staphylococcus, and it saved many lives. However, if vancomycin is used for a long time in a person with impaired kidney function, it may cause renal failure. In most of the cases we stop vancomycin before it can cause a problem.
We have totally a different situation with the drugs for indefinite use. Example: statins (Lipitor, Zocor, Crestor etc.). They are the very number 1 drugs to bring your cholesterol down. However statins may deplete your body of CoQ10, an essential nutrient, which makes sure that your body gets enough energy. How did they figure out that statins are no good for CoQ10 supplies? They found out because patients with heart failure were doing poorly while on statins. Further investigations showed, that the reason for deterioration was the CoQ10 level going down. No CoQ10 — not enough energy in the heart muscle to pump your blood. Did it result in less statin use in heart failure patients? Not to my knowledge. Other drugs, linked to CoQ10 loss are thiazide diuretics, ACEI, metphormin, second generation of sulphonylureas, beta-blockers etc. ACEIs as well as thiazide and potassium sparing diuretics are also linked to zinc depletion.
Another example: thiazide diuretics. What is the first thing you hear in the doctor’s office, if you came with high blood pressure? Less sodium, more potassium. But what do diuretics do? They deplete your body of potassium, making sodium to go in, because it is also positively charged as potassium to neutralize the loss of a positive charge. Does it make you feel better? What do you think? Another important mineral lost is magnesium. Do you know what you may feel if you don’t have enough magnesium in your body? Muscle cramps, depression, anxiety, blood pressure and blood sugar up, etc.
So how do you deal with this situation? Use drugs only if it is really necessary, and if you have to, then make sure, that nutrient and mineral losses, caused by drugs, are corrected.

Despite having multiple skin treatments available as well as plenty of information on the internet, it’s sometimes confusing to decide what to do for rejuvenation. The reason is the lack of a main idea on how to manage your skin care. Because of the high costs of skin treatments, you have to pay a lot of money for this confusion. I’m sure you don’t like it, because you earn you a paycheck by working hard. How to resolve this confusion and bring the cost down?
The first thing to do is to develop the system of skin care. This means, that you have to have a plan on what to do and when. They say that with a system even ordinary people can achieve predictable extraordinary results. Without a system even extraordinary people have trouble achieving predictably ordinary results. So why shouldn’t you have a system?
Everyone is unique. Therefore you should develop a unique system, suitable for you. Your physician can help you with that. In general it consists of several common components like:
– Facials on the regular bases to clean up your skin. Do you clean your apartment on a regular basis? Yes, of course. So maybe your face deserves it too?
– Supplements are also very important because of soil fertilizing. Think about it: vitamin A derivate Tazorac, which is a very powerful drug to improve a skin condition, costs from 150 to 250 dollars a piece, while vitamin A itself costs several dollars. Does it make a difference to you?
The second thing is to be persistent. Unfortunately there are no miracles in this world. At least I don’t know how to do miracles. So if you want to achieve anything you should work hard. There is no easy way around it. Don’t expect changes in your skin condition to happen fast. But if you are persistent, eventually changes will happen.
The Bottom line is simple: develop a unique system, suitable for you and follow the plan. Concentrate on long-term benefits, and eventually you’ll succeed. Good luck!

Everybody agrees, that being healthy and staying healthy is very important. However, not many business people are paying attention to what should be done to maintain optimum health. The main reason – “ they’re too busy”. It’s because not that many people realize that being healthy affects their performance a lot. The most common example – stress. Can you do business and not be under stress? Impossible! But do you know how stress affects your performance?
When you see a child in front of your fast moving car, you don’t think how beautiful the child is, or how old he is, or who are his parents, right? You just press the brakes! Why? Because you are under stress. At this time you don’t need your cortex with its high intellectual ability, you just need a simple reflex, to press the brakes. Therefore so that you can do this, your body while under stress, shuts down your cortex. The same thing happens when you’re under stress while doing your business - your body shuts down your intellectual ability! Therefore you are not able to make the best business decisions.
The second very important cause: hormone levels decline. Do you know, that after age 25 your hormone levels start declining? Remember, that in men testosterone is responsible for aggressiveness, in women it is estrogen, which influences business performance. They (Len – who is “they”, quote the source) checked saliva testosterone levels in stockbrokers, and they (Len - who”) found out, that the testosterone levels were directly corresponding to the amount of money earned that day.
The third cause: lack of essential nutrients because of Standard American Diet (SAD). The list of vitamins and minerals we’re likely to be deficient in, is long.
The fourth cause is this - toxins including, but not limited to, heavy metals (mercury in your tooth fillings, arsenic etc. ), plastics, pesticides, etc.
How to deal with this situation:
1. Employ stress reduction techniques, including yoga, meditation, love, appreciation, relaxation, sleep hygiene, etc.
2. Check your hormone levels and correct them if necessary.
3. Eat the right food, which is the preferred method for replenishing your body with missing nutrients.
4. Stay away from toxins and do practice detoxification, if necessary.
Any ideas or comments?

Even though we have many diabetic medications available, we still cannot cure diabetes with drugs. Why? - Because the vast majority of diabetic meds bring blood sugar down. Sounds wonderful but what is the result of low sugar? Increased appetite! What happens next? Weight gain which results in a blood sugar level increase. Looks like a vicious circle, right? The only medicine I believe is good is metformin. But is it really a chemical, invented in a lab? Do you know that this excellent medication was derived from the herb Galega oficinalis ( not in use because it’s too toxic ) ?
Here are some herbs, which may be useful in treating type 2 diabetes:
1. Ginseng: promotes weight loss, slows digestion and sugar absorption.
2. Fenugreek: good to bring down cholesterol and blood sugar levels.
3. Gurmar: helps with insulin resistance, increases insulin production.
4. Bitter melon.
5. Garlic.

Do not think that herbs will solve all of your problems - not at all! First is a life style modification. And thank God it can be done. What I’m telling my patients is to follow a “paleolitic” diet and stop in taking carbs except fruits. Also even one apple before meals decreases your appetite significantly. Good luck!

Even though we’ve all heard about prostate cancer, we still don’t know much about the its cause. No doubt, age is a risk factor as well as family history and diet. A new study from Mearini L, Costantini E, Zucchi A, Mearini E, Bini V, Cottini E Porena M Department of Urology, University of Perugia, Perugia, Italy shed light on the real reason why men are in danger of prostate cancer.
Low testosterone was linked to prostate cancer in this study (note – consider adding a link to, or naming, this study). This finding explains why age is a risk factor: our testosterone goes down over the years.
It also explains the importance of family history: low testosterone may run in families.
Now it is clear why a diet with high fat content is a risk factor for prostate cancer: fat increases enzyme aromatase activity which transformes testosterone into estrogen, thereby stealing testosterone from its target.
So how do you escape prostate cancer, especially if it runs in you family?

Most of my perimenopausal patients are happy, when their periods are gone . And I understand them: no spotting, no bloating, no tension, no unwanted pregnancies, etc. So now they can take hormones to get relief hot flashes, anxiety, sleep loss, mood swings and get their youth back. Looks like everybody is happy:
- women, because they look and feel young again
- doctors, because menopause management is this way.
But not any more. The recent Danish study results proved 2 things:
1. Risk of heart disease was lower, if women were cycling.
2. Transdermal route was superior.
These finding are supporting previously very well know point of view, that cycling is better. So if you want your youth back, get some inconvenience. But you will be rewarded.
