Sure, over the counter (OTC) weight loss pills look tempting. You see the pictures, you hear the commercials about how much he or she lost in as little as a week. Inches off, pounds shed, looking and feeling younger. All natural. Sounds great. Sign me up.
But hold on there!
You may lose weight fast using any one of these OTC so-called ‘natural’ weight loss products, but it is not always as safe as you might think. Most of us forget about safety concerns after reading word ‘natural’.
First, remember this: natural is not always safe. There are many natural poisons.
Second, so-called ‘natural’ products may contain unnatural substances such as drugs. As per an FDA press release from Dec 22 of last year, the group found that some of these OTC weight-loss pills contain undeclared drugs sometimes in higher-than-recommended concentrations to achieve rapid weight loss.
Some of these drugs include the controlled substance sibutramine, non-approved drug rimonabant, anti epileptic medication phenytoin, a suspected carcinogen phenolphthalein and diuretic bumetanide.
Moreover, OTC weight-loss pills cannot substitute for a healthy, low-carb ‘paleolitic’ diet. Pills won’t teach you good eating habits and you’ll still do permanent damage to your body eating the wrong foods.
You don’t need pills to lose weight. Truly natural methods are out there, cheaper, and easier to obtain. Stay away from the over the counter pills. There is no quick fix for a happier, healthier, thinner life. Start with a low-carb ‘paleolitic’ diet instead.
Any thoughts?
