Mercury and Cadmium’s Connection to Hypertension

While we are often told that salt can cause our hypertension not that many of us know that toxic mercury and cadmium can also be causing our high blood pressure.

Mercury, cadmium and other heavy metals can cause hypertension, vascular disease, Coronary Artery Disease, and a host of other problems.  And there is testing available, as well as a method to rid your body of the toxins, so why we should limit our salt and then get blood pressure pills instead of being tested and detoxified if necessary?

Most of us assume that we have to live with hypertension. High blood pressure just comes with age and gets worse as we get older. We accept it, right? We are told the main causes of it, and doctors give us some tips, then relegate the condition to the background.

And yet we are usually checked for heavy metal toxicity which can be the real cause of our high blood pressure. The toxin could be in the blood, but not only in the blood. Did you know that for some women, when they become osteoporotic lead may actually come from their bones; because lead accumulates in bones?

In most cases, regular medicine doesn’t really know what causes hypertension. It could be kidney abnormalities, could be the use of some medications or illegal drugs, it could be defects in how our cells are handling electrolytes.

For some reason, the top advice from doctors is always to limit your salt intake. And, as a doctor, I agree, for many reasons. Salt isn’t so great for you in the first place. And we, as Americans, tend to eat an awful lot of rock salt (table salt). (For more on the dangers of salt and how it pertains to live longer, subscribe to my 9-email series: “Why People Die Prematurely and How You Can Prolong Your Life Naturally with Proven Methods”)

And yes, we do feel confident walking away with a method we can control, but did you know that mercury or cadmium call also be the cause of it, yet we are never tested for it?

There is a website you can use as a resource, http://www.healthandenvironment.org/tddb. It is a Toxicant and Disease Database, where you can see many of the ways that toxins can affect your health, and what to look for, and maybe go to a holistic doctor to fix.

Naturally, cilantro helps to rid the body of toxins like mercury, but you should go see a doctor to have your mercury levels checked. It is possible to detoxify your body of mercury, and possibly cure or prevent your hypertension.

Here’s a quick recipe.

Cilantro Pesto:

Organic is Always Best. And cilantro is great for digestion, as an anti-inflammatory, to lower blood sugar and cholesterol. Here is a great recipe for Cilantro Pesto, instead of your normal Basil Pesto

1 bunch cilantro
3 cloves garlic
1/2 c. olive oil
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. pepper
1/4 c. pine nuts (or walnuts)

Wash cilantro, dry. Mix ingredients in food processor until smooth. Chill and serve with fish or pasta as sauce or as a vegetable dip.
