Is the FDA Really Watching What’s In Our Supplements?

Pain Medication

We usually believe that so called natural remedies are safe, because they are natural.

But it may not be necessary true.

Because:

1.  Not every natural substances are beneficial for us.

Example: poisonous mushrooms etc.  Snake venom is perfectly natural. But it may kill.

2.  You never know what is inside the pill they are selling you as a natural remedy. I’ve seen this in emergency room. A person comes in with liver failure, not sure where it came from. Testing shows yellow skin and eyes. Turns out, the person has been taking supplements for an extended period of time, and while it has a positive effect at first, suddenly all the negative effects kick in.

Doctors encourage you to be wary of any medication that says it will give you energy because the liver breaks down these supplements and it causes a lot of harm.

According to the Government Accountability Office, the Food and Drug Administration doesn’t even have enough information about many of the ingredients that go into a lot of these energy and dietary supplements and therefore can’t even effectively regulate it. So, if the government is even admitting that much fault, we should be afraid, and be extremely cautious, even with items that are FDA approved.

Energy supplements and what they put into it may be dangerous. When you look at these supplements you may not realize the danger. You need to be a professional to understand what many of the ingredients are. Just recently, the FDA has been pulling various dietary supplements off the shelves. Think about it. Think about what they are not pulling off shelves.

Never buy a product not recommended by your doctor, not even a simple supplement. The best is pharmaceutical grade.
