How to protect yourself from the next No. 1 killer

As a result, everybody is concerned with cholesterol, heart, high blood pressure etc. Heart disease’s rank as the No. 1 cause of death may be changing as soon as next year!  According to the World Health Organization, cancer will be replacing heart disease as the No. 1 cause of death. What does this mean for you?  For starters, we should not ignore our concerns about preventing heart disease, but we should pay at least as much attention to our cancer protection as we do for our cholesterol, blood pressure etc.

So what can you do?

  1. Reduce your exposure to carcinogens, like smoking, grilling, using contaminated water or food.  You can do this by quitting smoking, drinking distilled water, eating organic foods and cooking your food with temperatures no higher than the boiling point of water.
  2. Detoxify yourself with food that is rich in fiber to absorb toxins.  Delicious food like strawberries, apples, spinach, almonds, brazil nuts, broccoli and stone ground whole wheat are all high in fiber!  Also, you can always consult us about other fiber rich food.  There are so many options available for fiber that you will enjoy and that will fit into your diet.
  3. Make sure you are getting enough vitamin D.  At your next doctors visit ask to check that your levels of vitamin D.  Vitamin D is naturally present in very few foods, but is integral in regulating your body’s systems.
  4. Make sure, that you get enough antioxidants.  Antioxidants are abundant in many different types of food, so finding a food high in antioxidants is easier than you think.

Lose weight. Carrying extra weight on your body is always detrimental to your health.
