Safety — first. And now we’ve got another piece of evidence, that hormone replacement therapy with testosterone is safe. The new study, done by Aksam Yassin, MD, PhD from the Clinic of Urology and Andrology of th Segeberger Clinics in Norderstedt, Germany, confirmed, that testosterone replacement therapy does not cause prostate cancer.
The study compared 2 groups of men: one group was receiving testosterone replacement therapy because of low testosterone, another was not receiving testosterone. The incidence of prostate cancer was the same in the group, receiving testosterone.
Another exciting news was, that prostate cancers, found in the testosterone replacement group were less aggressive, then cancers, found in no testosterone treatment group. This fact supports the hypothesis, that not testosterone, but estrogen is the cause of prostate cancer.
