Safety first. And now we’ve got another piece of evidence that hormone replacement therapy with testosterone is safe. The new study, done by Aksam Yassin, MD, PhD from the Clinic of Urology and Andrology at the Segeberger Clinics in Norderstedt, Germany, confirmed, that testosterone replacement therapy does not cause prostate cancer.

The study compared two groups of men: one group receiving testosterone replacement therapy because of low testosterone, and another not receiving testosterone. The incidence of prostate cancer was the same in both groups.

Another bit of exciting news was that prostate cancers found in the testosterone replacement group were less aggressive than cancers found in the group not treated. This fact supports the hypothesis that it is not testosterone, but estrogen, that is the cause of prostate cancer.
