Menopause: improve your sleep with hormone replacement therapy
comment feedSleep is very important for all of us: no sleep — no rest, no repair. And possible increase cancer risk. More stress. Decreased productivity. Depressed mood. Who wants insomnia? Nobody. But according to the recent study insomnia is the most frequent symptom of menopause. So what are the reasons for insomnia in menopause and what can be done?
There are several causes of insomnia in menopause patients. The most inportant are:
1. Lack of relaxation manifested by difficulty in falling asleep. Most likely cause — hormone melatonin drop because of aging.
2. Too much activation of adrenals in the midnight/early morning manifested by early awakening with inability to fall asleel again. Most likely cause — lack of estrogen ( adrenalin and cortisol are not balanced by estrogen).
3. Going to the bathroom to urinate in midnight/early morning. Most likely cause — estrogen loss, because estrogen maintains mucous membrains, and lack of estrogen leads to mucous membrains hypersensitivity and inflammation including urinary bladder.
What can be done? Answer is obvious: hormone replacement therapy to balance hormones and to repair mucous membrains.
