Have you ever used sunscreen? Probably yes. Because it is good for skin cancer prevention as well as for skin texture. And it is true. But it is also true, that too much sun screen can reduce synthesis of vitamin D by 90 — 95 percent. This is not good at all. Because vitamin D plays major role in our defense against cancer. It is effective against gastrointestinal cancers, breast and prostate cancers. Vitamin D helps macrophages attack their targets. Vitamin D also prevents angiogenesis in tumor tissue. No vessels - no blood supply — no growth. Vitamin D is a very important immunostimulator. No proper immune system — no defense against cancer. So what needs to be done? How to get vitamin D enough to fight cancer efficiently? One of the best ways — sun exposure. Fast, efficient and reliable. But what about skin cancer prevention? To use sun screen or not?

My answer is: use sunscreen for face. The rest of the body should get sun exposure without sun screed but in a dose which is 30% of dose needed for erythema. It means: very little. That is what I do for myself. This does not mean, that I advise anybody to do the same. No I do not advise anybody to do the same. Everybody should make his decision.

If anybody has any thoughts about this matter, please comment. So what do you think?
