Recent Vytorin scandal inspired other questions about cholesterol lowering drugs mostly statins. The most important discussion topic is: do they prolong life? The answer is: not sure. So do we really need statins? I think we may benefit from taking them. The reason for survival benefits confusion might be because high LDL is not the only risk factor for heart disease. The solution might be to check for other known riks factors such as lipoprotein A, homocystein etc. and correct if needed.
