New data suggests that insulin inhibits protein SKN –1, which is responsible for our cell defense. SKN-1 controls detoxification and free radical defense. If SKN-1 activity is increased, we are protected from toxins and free radicals. The result is increased longevity. If SKN-1 is not functioning properly, we are fully exposed to toxins and free radicals, which damage our body. It means that more insulin equals less protection.
What causes insulin level increase? Food!
Bottom line: eat less to live longer.
