Melatonin, the hormone that helps regulate other hormone’s and keep our body’s rhythm, studies say, is low in cancer patients.
Experiments have found that certain breast cancer cells growth can be directly correlated to low melatonin levels, while adding the hormone can actually inhibit its growth. Even some chemotherapy drugs are enhanced with higher levels.
Men with prostate cancer also tend to have lower levels of the hormone. Adding melatonin, in studies, has shown to stop the growth.
It is logical to conclude that melatonin plays a role in cancer defense. It would be prudent to check your melatonin level.
