Anti Aging Holistic Beauty Treatment Is Now Available on Long Island

Are you frustrated with beauty treatments because you spend a lot of money and still don’t look younger? Do you still have sagging skin and wrinkles you cannot hide with makeup? Do you feel tired because of sleepless nights, insomnia and mood swings?

Do you think that getting a few tiny wrinkles around your eyes is not a bid deal. What you do not know is: a few wrinkles may portend a big disaster in your life — aging with hormonal imbalance.

You wake up one day and you really look at yourself in the mirror. It didn’t happen overnight, but it sure feels like it did. You got old! Your wrinkles are prominent, your skin in sagging, you have bags under your eyes from lack of sleep, and you look tired and haggard. What caused this, and how did it happen to you? You are not ready to think of yourself as old, yet.

“Every wrinkle has a reason,” says Sergey Kalitenko, MD, an Anti Aging Holistic Physician, practicing in Great Neck, Nassau county, Long Island, as well as Brooklyn and Manhattan. “There are several reasons why wrinkles happen, and it’s important to know that they cannot all be treated the same way. You need to know the reason for wrinkles to treat them appropriately.”

At Dr. Kalitenko’s offices in Great Neck, they use biofeedback and other tests to look into the root cause of your aging problems, and find the right ways to identify, diagnose, and treat them.

Appropriate history taking, physical exam and tests will show that your wrinkles came from either:

Loss of skin thickness — your skin just isn’t as thick anymore, as you age.

Loss of volume — this has nothing to do with the skin actually, but rather with the fat underneath the skin and needs to be treated differently.

Excessive muscle pull — when the skin mimics the muscle pull and is working too hard.

Loss of normal skin texture — when the elastic fibers are gone and no longer in shape.

Each of these needs to be treated in the appropriate way. This is not a “one treatment fits all” plan.

“The first few wrinkles around your eyes are so small and can barely be noticed,” says Dr. Kalitenko. “And you do not usually pay too much attention to them. So what? A little bit of makeup and you are ok. But soon your problems start to pile up and soon disaster starts.”

Treatments are becoming too expensive. Visits to the makeup counter at department stores are costing hundreds of dollars but the results are almost a joke. You could be missing one approach that could prevent disaster.

Functional medicine can save you from that disaster, because it looks for the root cause of your problem and treats it. At our offices we look into the reason for your problem. We examine why your skin is wrinkled, we look into your diet, into vitamins, and we look to treat you to make the whole you feel younger and better.

Dr. Kalitenko has also teamed up with the healing services offered at Margaret’s Paradise, to offer a full, natural beauty experience. The office makes sure that you are taken care of inside and out.

I work with each patient, not their numbers, and every patient is different.”

Vitamin D Is Crucial and Moderation is the Key

Over the course of the last few decades the sun has basically become our enemy. It is the cause of skin cancer, wrinkles, problem after problem after problem. But is the sun really to blame for any of this. The sun’s always been there, but it’s really only caused a problem in the last few years. Why is it that it is so dangerous?

Truthfully, the sun is crucial to our survival. We need it to help our foods to grow, to give us light and to make us feel alive. The effects of vitamin D, produced in our body with sunlight help, are never disputed and the amount of vitamin D we can get naturally is always better than taking it in supplement form. But, as we humans always do, we take a good thing and take it too far.

A recent article in the Wall Street Journal examines why the sun has become our enemy, but the writer really never comes up with a solution. But the solution is actually pretty obvious. Read the article here: http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052748703465204575208011470022100.html?mod=djemHL_t

Look at how we behave in the sun. It is totally unnatural. We sunbathe, we layout in the sun all day long. We make trips to the beach a social venue, where we bake our skin for hours and hours. We slather on sunblock because we think it will save us, but the sunblock can be doing harm, too.

Our bodies were not intended to bake in the sun. The amount of sun exposure we can get naturally, even on a beach, should be what we aim for as people. It is unnatural to lay out all day and let your skin turn different shades of red.

Sunburns are not natural. Dark tans are not natural. Laying in the sand is not natural. Just like you would never see a monkey using a treadmill or eating processed foods, you would never see one sunbathing either.

Sun exposure simple solutions.

Do not go sunbathing, but rather get your sun naturally

The sun is the worst between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m., so try to stay out of it during those times.

If you do go out into the sun, leave as soon as you feel uncomfortable. That is your body telling you that it is too much. Whether you are feeling light-headed, or too hot, or like you might be getting sunburned, it is time to go inside. Usually the time in the sun is about 15 — 20 minutes.

If you are going to spend time on the beach, use the time to build a sand castle, or take a walk in the sand. Try to take a swim often to break up the exposure. Go collect shells. Do not just lay there inviting in cancer.

And make sure you apply sunblock if you are going to be out for more than 15 minutes.

The debate as to how long and how much sun we can have will always be prevalent. But taking a functional approach to how we are going to protect ourselves is the best choice we can make.

In our culture, being at the beach is a social event. Taking off our clothes, or being scantily clad, added to being in a social environment, often makes us forget the dangers of our surroundings. Fortunately, when you are treating your body natural, you can make things better. You can take your day on the beach and control it to make sure you are taking the best care of yourself.

What about you?

How often are you going to the beach or to the tanning salon?

At what time do you usually sunbathing?

Are you easily sunburned?

Do you apply sunscreen on the regular bases?

Studies Go Back and Forth on the Issue

If stress lowers testosterone, how come people in very high stress work places seem to have more of it? Boosting your testosterone level may be good for sexual performance and this seems to be a well known theory. So, men look to keep their testosterone up, hoping that it will keep their sexual prowess at peak.

A study in London done in the last few years found that men who worked at the London stock exchange had a higher level of testosterone based on the amount of money they made. More money = more testosterone. The suggested explanation of this is that testosterone begets aggressiveness, resulting in more risky decisions. Another possible explanation is that thinking about money and sex ignites the same areas of the brain. Therefore there is the possibility that testosterone stimulates sex areas, which are at the same time the areas responsible for money making.

But studies also show that stress can reduce testosterone levels. How is that possible? One would assume that someone working as a broker is bound to be super-stressed? However, it is known that stress can work its way into cortisol and testosterone levels.

So, it seems that may be while mild to moderately intense physical stress, as in sports and sex, may actually boost testosterone production, severe mental and emotional stress can inhibit it.

So, it seems there is a debate on the issue. How do you keep yourself healthy, and your levels right? First of all, try to control stress in your life, eat right, sleep well and surround yourself with people who will add to your life not suck the energy out of it. Keep active. Testosterone is not just for fun, it is for survival.

Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy Can Help

It’s become almost commonplace to say that we should be medicated.
“You’re crazy.”
“I’m Crazy.”
“We’re all nuts”

These statements are more severe than we think. We assume that there is something wrong with us and we look immediately to medication to fix it. Our doctors prescribe something to calm us down, lift us up, help us become normal again.

But what they don’t truly do, is look into the cause of our problems. Even a diagnosis of depression or anxiety can have an underlying physical cause that no one even gets to the bottom of.

You see, not everyone who is crazy, is really crazy.

Two reasons can be hormonal imbalance, or what we eat.

Hormonal imbalance, such as that which occurs during menopause, can cause us to feel so many emotions, running the gamut from happy to sad, hurt to upset. But it is possible to feel normal again, to control your emotions and stabilize them so we feel more in control of ourselves.

One possible method, and a very successful one at that, is bioidentical hormone replacement therapy, which helps us get back what we are missing, and what we lose with age. This treatment can make you feel younger, more in control and more positive in your life.

The other cause can be in your gut. Serotonin which is responsible for your mood, is produced in your gut. It is what controls mood, sleep and more. And it is what can make the difference between being “crazy” or not. The key here is to take care of your gut. Make sure that it is functioning properly.
Make sure you are moving your bowels regularly, turn to a more natural diet of meat, fruits and vegetables. Skip the carbs, wheat and dairy, they may not be good for you. It is called the caveman diet. If the caveman didn’t eat it, there is no reason that you should.
Take care of your body physically and you will see results as to what it can do for you mentally. This is not always a cure, but to be healthy throughout can never be harmful.

What Dermatologists Are Fighting Over

The debate about our exposure to sunlight and what it does in terms on skin cancer has gone back and forth. Recently, a Boston professor of dermatology has been asked to resign because he advocates moderate exposure to sunlight.

Michael F. Holick, MD, PhD, wrote a book describing the importance of being exposed to Vitamin D from the sun. But dermatologists have been telling us for years to stay out of the sun. So, is this doctor crazy? See the full story here: http://chetday.com/skincancersun.htm

Truth is, no one is really sure the exact correlation of exposure to the sun to melanoma. Because another study noted that people who have jobs outside, and who are in the sun all day, actually have a lowered chance of getting melanoma. And that study stated that “It is having fair skin, a high-fat, low fruit and vegetable diet, sunburning, etc., that are more linked to melanoma than total UV exposure.”

Unfortunately, we need to figure out for ourselves what it considered too much exposure, the right amount, and what our other chances of getting cancer are (like smoking or family history). And yet another kink in the works says that melanoma is actually more common on the bottom half of the body, not the arms and face, which are naturally exposed to the sun more often. How is that possible?

Vitamin D, which we get from the sun, is said now to fight many cancers, and many doctors are coming back around to say that a little exposure is good, otherwise you may end up Vitamin D deficient.

And in another series of four studies, it was concluded in two that sunscreen protected against a precancerous skin condition while two others reported that sunscreen did not shield people from this condition.

And meanwhile, another study showed that Vitamin D supplements actually do nothing to inhibit melanoma.

So, how can we even make an informed decision with all this back and forth data? The key here is to do everything with your doctor’s advice, and in moderation.

Sure, a vitamin D supplement will prove to be beneficial, but you need to also combine that with going into the sun for a limited amount of time every day. Make sure when you go out into the sun you cover up after a short period of time. Make sure you do not sunburn and wear sunscreen no matter what!

At our offices we routinely check for vitamin D levels, which may not normally done at a regular doctor’s office.

Kyphosis, a curving of the spine, or popularly called a hunchback, is often associated in later years with osteoporosis. Kyphosis leads to many health problems, however, besides osteoporosis. Among them, and perhaps the most serious is respiratory problems, and eventually possible heart failure.

The standard treatment for osteoporisis are biophosphonates with Calcium and Vitamin D. But here is where the controversy is.

Biophosphonates, especially in the case of osteoporosis, cause the bones to have constant turnover, and inhibits the digestion of bone by osteoclasts. And vitamin D, as we know, stengthens our bones. But even though this seems to be the standard treatment, it is not really effective because we are not told to take enough of it!Not only that, but the calcium you are often told to take with it may actually decrease the vitamin D levels.

Biophosphonates actually create an abnormal bone, which is relatively fine for about seven years and then becomes more prone to breaking. It’s also noted that prolonged treatment, while it can decrease the number of fractures, can actually increase the harm in the fractures, making them more painful and slower to heal, since the bones are thickened.

As for Vitamin D, it is often prescribed at 400 IU, which is not enough at certain times. And though you need more than that, it also has to be controlled because there can be too much vitamin D, causing more harm than good.

The dosages of vitamin D need to be checked and monitored, as well as possible bioidentical hormone replacement therapy.

Check with your doctor about your treatment options if you have osteoporosis. Right now, in the U.S., 10 million individuals already have osteoporosis and 34 million more have low bone mass, placing them at increased risk for this disease.

Smaller Fish is Safer Fish

In recent years, the fear of too much mercury from fish has been instilled in us. Pregnant mothers and children are urged to limit their tuna consumption, and there are always new reports on which fish are safe to eat and which are not.

The Environmental Defense Fund has a very handy seafood selector on its website http://www.edf.org/page.cfm that lists the safest and most harmful fish, sushi choices, health guides, and even printable pocket guides.
According to the EDF, the safest foods are pink shrimp from Oregon, wild Alaskan salmon, and farmed rainbow trout. The worst offenders are Chilean sea bass and various kinds of tuna.

The truth is, and this is usually the easiest method to use, is that the smaller the type of fish, the less amount of mercury it contains. Do not think that just because something is farm raised, that it makes it safer from being contaminated by mercury or antibiotics. There are many toxins also that contain estrogen-like substances which are much harder to determine than the most common toxins like mercury. And those can be the most dangerous. These other toxins can cause female and male hormonal imbalance.
It is better to be safe than sorry. Stick to the safer fish, do your research, and always eat any fish in moderation.

Regaining Your Sex-Life Without Resorting To Cheating

Sexual problems in a couple’s relationship can result in so much more than breakup. It can cause family problems, money problems, career crush, especially when men resort to finding sexual fulfillment from a prostitute. Take for example, the recent case of Eliot Spitzer, whose sexual antics brought down his career, his family life, his world.

But, what causes a married man to go to see a prostitute? From the anti-aging point of view, this phenomenon can be explained as follows: after a certain age men’s sex hormone testosterone level starts declining, resulting in decrease of sex drive. Most of the men do not realize that this decline is related to aging. Instead they tend to blame their wives, thinking that their own wives are to old for them or not attractive any more.
They look to regain their sex drive, some by trying to find a young prostitute or girlfriend. Sometimes it helps, sometimes not. But even if it does the result is temporary, because the testosterone level is still declining.

The solution here is hormone replacement therapy for both men and women, because libido restoration as well as menopausal symptom relief would help to restore romance between husbands and wives. In order to be able to love somebody you need to have enough hormones!

Only Time Will Tell If New Drug Will Have Same Effects

Everyone knows that Botox is expensive, so the hope is that with the release of new Relaxin, it will bring the competition out and the prices down.

Relaxin is still awaiting FDA approval and ist’s hard to predict now if the prices of Botox treatments will go down because it’s hard to know yet if Relaxin is as good. It will take time for the new drug to prove itself to us.

In the mean time I suggest looking for more natural treatments while you’re waiting to hear about the effects of Relaxin. Bioidentical Hormone Replacement may be an option.

Pharmaceutical Companies Continue to Worry About Profits

Statistics show that incidents of breast cancer fell in 2003 by 6.7 percent in comparison with 2002. This is most likely the result of hormone replacement therapy decrease, which consists of equine estrogens and progestins.

Is it good? Of course – less women died because of a deadly disease. Is it bad? Yes, because there is no widespread intention to stop using carcinogenic pills and switch to something else.

Companies cannot patent natural substances and hence make money from them, and in order to obtain a patent they need to modify the original molecule. That’s what they did with estrogen and progesterone. And what did we get? Equine conjugated estrogens and progestins (not progesterone). Example – Prempro.
