Hormone replacement therapy: does cycling give more benefits?

Monday, October 27th, 2008

And I understand them: no spotting, no bloating, no tension, no unwanted pregnancies, etc. So now they can take hormones to get relief  hot flashes, anxiety, sleep loss, mood swings and get their youth back. Looks like everybody is happy:

- women, because they look and feel young again
- doctors, because menopause management is this way.

But not any more. The recent Danish study results proved 2 things:

1. Risk of heart disease was lower, if women were cycling.
2. Transdermal route was superior.

These finding are supporting previously very well know point of view, that cycling is better. So if you want your youth back, get some inconvenience. But you will be rewarded.

Which is better for diabetic patients: a low sugar level or a high one?

Monday, October 27th, 2008

nejmBecause from my personal experience as a physician I know, that a low sugar level is very dangerous.  And this was confirmed in a recent study, published in the New England Journal of Medicine this year.

They took two groups of diabetic patients.  The first group was treated aggressively while another group was treated normally.  Of course the blood sugar level was lower in the first group and higher in the second.  Guess in what group the mortality rate was higher? In the aggressively treated group with low sugar!
What it means is very simple: medications are sometimes very dangerous. It is much better to use a natural approach for diabetes treatment and most importantly, it’s much safer.
