We all sometimes feel anxious. It is normal. But if you feel anxious almost all the time, then it becomes a problem. When you are anxious, you cannot either function normally or enjoy life.  Anxiety can make your life miserable. Fortunately, you can help yourself by lifestyle modifications, diet and drugs ( if necessary ). Of course you should see a psychiatrist. But not only drugs can make a difference, because Anxiety may be the result of nutritional deficiencies, leading to neurotransmitter imbalances.  For example, if your blood sugar is too low, then you become anxious. Obviously the  right diet can help.  Below are the dietary suggestions for patients with Anxiety:

1.  Increase uptake of fresh fruits and vegetables, nuts and seeds, cold water fish -- mercury safe.  Try to stick with organic foods. You can eat red meat in moderation, provided that it is grass fed and pasture raised.

2.  Eat frequent small meals, have a snack before going to bed to avoid low blood sugar.  Stick with complex carbohydrates foods like potatoes and brown rice.

3.  Avoid: smoking, alcohol, simple carbohydrates like cookies, soft drinks, etc., alcohol and caffeine containing products.

4.  Avoid food products you are allergic to.  Find out what foods make you sick.  Most frequent offenders are dairy products, shell fish, peanuts, eggs etc.

Of course nutritional deficiencies are not the only cause of Anxiety.  Other causes may be mercury toxicity, gut dysbiosis, etc.  To get help you need to find a functional medicine doctor close to you and whom you trust to find the root cause of you problem and fix it.

Good luck!
